Rose's Pit

Anarchists of Good Taste by Dog Fashion Disco

Anarchists of Good Taste is an albumn from 2001 by an American band called Dog Fashion Disco. Rose, what do you know about them? Bold of you to assume I know anything. Look, I found this albumn on some kind of CD exchange/market stuff that popped out in one of the shopping centers in my city, I saw the title, the band's name, it had a sticker that said "Funk Metal, Punk, Avant-garde" and decided to take it. So let's not dive into the whole knowlage part.
The term avant-garde is accurate. My edition (European one) features 12 songs and although most of them sound similar to eachother, it's actually not something I've ever heard before. I mean, the usage of different styles and instruments feel sometimes out of place, but isn't that the whole point? Take the first song for example, "Leper Friend", it starts with trombone or other wind instrument. There are other instruments that kind of feels out of place in this whole electric guitar/heavy bass/aggressive drums vibe of the album. For example something that sounds almost like a Harpsichord in "Mushroom Cult" and maybe "9 to 5 At the Morgue". In "Headless" you can hear something like wooden xylophone. Trumpet or other wind instrument is also used in a lot of songs. The saxophone on "Pour Some Urine On Me" adds a trippy vibe with the additional reverbed vocals.
The general vibe of this album is truly something else, for a moment you think it's metal, other times some gothic styled music, and other times some obscure punk. I checked the Spotify page to see how many people listened to each song and to my surprise, the song "Pour Some Urine On Me" which I consider one of the best songs here, is the second least listened through the platform. Maybe it's the fact that it's 6 minutes long, but honestly if you don't have the attention spam to listen to a good 6 minutes long song, then you should work on that or stick to your Sabrina Carpenter not that I have anything to her, just not my style I guess .
Would I recomend spending 20$ on this album? Yea I would, but if it would be your first time listening to anything like this and you're more used to modern pop, then check them out on Spotify first, or listen to similar/lighter/more average stuff first.
Anyway, check the album out!
